Google Business Profile, Website, or Booking Software: What Does a Service Business Need?
By AACore Team
A customer may discover your business on Google, look at your work on social media, and still need a clear way to book. For a service business, a Google Business Profile, a website, and online booking software serve different purposes. Understanding those differences can help you choose what to set up first.
The short answer: an eligible Google Business Profile helps people find your local business. Your website explains what you offer. Booking software helps customers choose a service and move toward a confirmed appointment. One does not automatically replace the others.
What does a Google Business Profile do?
A Google Business Profile presents business information on Google Search and Maps. It can show your hours, website, photos, and customer reviews.
Eligibility matters. Google generally requires in-person contact with customers during stated business hours. A salon that receives customers and a cleaner who visits customers can qualify. An online-only business does not qualify simply because it has a registered company or website. Businesses that visit customers but do not receive them at their address should follow Google's service-area rules and hide that address.
Read Google's Business Profile eligibility guidelines and service-area guidance before creating a listing.
Why have a business website as well?
A website gives you room to explain the details a customer needs before choosing you: services, prices, examples of your work, business hours, and booking policies. It also gives you a link to share in messages, on social profiles, and with people who refer customers to you.
For someone starting a service business, buying a domain and arranging separate hosting can feel like another project. AACore Booking includes a business website with a shareable AACore address, so a separate domain purchase and hosting setup are not required to use that website. Review current plan terms before signing up.
Where does online booking software fit?
A website can describe your work without helping a customer arrange it. Booking software adds the service selection, availability, and appointment workflow. The right workflow depends on the job:
- In-store services: a customer chooses a service and an available appointment at your location.
- On-site services: the appointment involves work at the customer's location. Make service-area and job requirements clear before accepting the work.
- Recurring services: customers need repeat visits rather than a single appointment.
- Quote-first work: you need to understand the scope before agreeing on a price and booking.
AACore Booking supports in-store and on-site service workflows, recurring appointments, quote requests, invoices, and payment processing. Availability depends on how the business configures its services and account. See the AACore Booking features and demonstrations to compare those workflows with the way you work.
What changes with AI-assisted booking?
AI-assisted booking offers a conversational way to explore services and prepare an appointment. With AACore AI, customers can describe what they need, choose an available time, review the appointment details, and confirm.
The customer still reviews and confirms the booking. AI does not remove the need to configure services, staff availability, and business policies carefully. It also does not guarantee more inquiries or customers.
A practical setup order
- Define your offer. Decide which services have a clear price and duration, which need a quote, and where you provide them.
- Prepare your website and booking flow. Add accurate service details, hours, photos, and policies.
- Test as a customer. Open the link on your phone and check that the service, time, and confirmation make sense.
- Connect your discovery channels. Share the tested website link on your social profiles and your Google Business Profile if eligible.
- Measure meaningful results. Review inquiries and completed bookings alongside visits and clicks. A click alone does not tell you whether the customer could complete the next step.
